Your source for Temecula, CA and Southwest Riverside County lifestyle, events, & area information

The beginning of a New Year is filled with resolutions to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle. Lucky for us, we live in Temecula! Did you know there are many great resources right here in our own backyard?
If you haven’t been to the Old Town Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning, you must go. It is one of the best Farmer’s Markets in the area and the quality of vendors is amazing. There are several food booths ranging from fresh crepes to East African food, and everything in between! Be sure to also check out Home Spun, they make the most delicious nut brittle! The Farmer’s Market also comes to the Promenade Temecula Mall parking lot on Wednesday afternoons.
Organic Roots (formerly Sprouts Natural Market) off Margarita in the World Market shopping center is a one stop shop for everything organic and non-GMO. “Roots” does not carry products containing genetically modified organisms (GMO) in the store. To read more about the use of GMO’s in our food go to www.nongmoproject.org.
While at Roots be sure to sample the delicious soup and chili bar, the burrito bar (more delicious than Chipotle) and a wide variety of wraps and hot foods! Of course, this is THE PLACE to go for fresh, raw smoothies and juices. The even have dairy free frozen yogurt in a variety of flavors, with all the toppings!!
Temecula is also home to Primal Pastures (primalpastures.com). This beautiful family owned farm located in wine country is an amazing resource for Temecula residents! They are bringing farming back to its roots and are spreading the message of eating local and humanely raised animals.
They offer truly cage-free chickens which eat only what nature intended….bugs! They are not fed animal by-products or GMO corn or soy feed like conventional chickens. One could say these are the happiest chickens in the Inland Empire!
They also offer lamb, pork, and beef; all animals are free to roam and eat what nature intended. They also offer bulk meat purchasing! This is a fantastic opportunity for Temecula residents! Gather a few of your friends and family and split the cost of a whole beef share and save a significant amount of money on your annual beef or lamb cost.
There are farm tours every few months and I highly suggest taking the family out to visit this magical place and learn about the future of organic and humane farming.
