Primal Cravings–a Temecula/Murrieta based meal service that delivers delicious and nutritious paleo meals straight to your door–is owned by smart, funny, incredibly in shape CrossFit gym rat, and mother of three, the amazing Lea Roberts.

I knew I liked her, the minute I met her, feeding breakfast to her sweet daughter, a ballerina in training. Lea introduced me to a word that has instantly become part of my vernacular.

Brain Fog.

She must have recognized it in me, after frantically dropping off the kids at school. Racing across town for our interview. The minutes she said it, served me a Paleo Cookie, and sat back to chat, I instantly knew exactly what she was talking about.

My brain is totally fogged.

Whether from too much wi-fi, or too many mobile devices. That’s exactly how I’d been feeling until I tried that first paelo treat. But that Paleo Cookie may have changed my life.

Thanks to Lea Roberts, the Primal Cravings model herself, I ate that amazing, delicious, warm from the oven Paleo chocolate chip cookie. Along with that amazing Roasting House Coffee from the french press. mmm. Now, I dream about them.

I also love the idea of eating Paleo. Or personally, Neo, as in Neolithic–as that drags us into the agriculture age. If we can farm it, we can and should eat it. Let’s not put stuff in our bodies that wasn’t supposed to go in there in the first place.

While we talked, Roberts served up a veggie quiche, but other menu items on her Paleo Meal Plan include sweet potato chicken salad, eggplant lasagna. And those darned cookies.

It’s easy to jump on Lea Roberts’ Primal Cravings, Paleo bandwagon.

Lea is gorgeous, strong minded and bodied, a glorious mother of an adorable pixie in ballerina tutu. In short, she’s a real person, who makes good food that tastes good. Even if the verbiage she drops leans toward “foraging local” which in any other conversation would sound quite odd. But truly, her meal plan is well thought out, easy to follow, and has become a staple for many in the Temecula/Murrieta areas.

“There’s a detox period when  you start eating Paleo,” Roberts explained. “People try it at Panini and Hops. They order a Paleo Bowl, love it, and ask where can I get more?”

According to Roberts, eating Paleo clears your head, but as you pull your body away from processed foods, your body will detoxify. “When I first started eating Paleo, I slept for three days. But then I was clear headed. It’s all about finding a balance, whether total paleo (mostly meats) to Neolithic (which includes fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, and other agrarian elements.)

But nothing clears that up like a good conversation around the farm table, with good friends who understand that we all need to put something better out in order to get something back.  The Primal Cravings chefs, like Lea Roberts and Temecula favorite, Marilyn Tipps, who all believe in getting America back to the table.
