On Friday, May 23, 2014, an Amber Alert was released for a 2-year-old boy reported kidnapped by his father in Boyle Heights. The suspect is wearing a red shirt and jeans. The boy is wearing a red sweatshirt and blue pants, according to police reports.
Police are searching for a 2004 Orange Nissan Quest Minivan, license plate: 7CIN198.
This minivan has tinted windows, as well as body damage on the driver’s side.
Father, Abraham Vargas, 27, reportedly arrived at the home of the boy’s mother in the 1000 block of Lorena Street at approximately 6 a.m. Police say Vargas was in violation of a restraining order.
According to LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman, Edwin Vargas, age 2, was being placed in his car-seat by his mother when Vargas jumped into her car and drove off with the boy.
Officials say he may be headed for Mexico.
