MURRIETA: Firefighters Dog Sit After Owner Injured in Collision

On Wednesday May 14, 2014 just before 10:00 am, the owner of a new puppy rolled his jeep in a traffic accident on the 215 freeway southbound just before Murrieta Hot Springs Road. The dog was being held by witnesses of the collision on the freeway when emergency personnel arrived. The driver and owner of the dog had moderate injuries and needed to be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Fire crews treated the driver and took the dog back to the fire station until the family could be notified. The dog was newly acquired by the owner whose family purchased the dog for him after returning from a military deployment. The dog named Copper is a nine week old mini Australian Sheppard and was acquired six days ago.
