Discovery of 300 marijuana plants, cock fighting in Meadowbrook community leads to arrest of 3 in Lake Elsinore area

Large scale marijuana farm was discovered near Lake Elsinore, in the unincorporated area of Riverside County, known as Meadowbrook, on Monday, April 28, 2013.

“At 5:40 A.M., deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station were patrolling the area of Shaw and McPherson,” stated Corporal Mike Fraker in the Riverside County Sheriff’s report. “While on patrol, the deputies observed a residence which had numerous marijuana plants in plain view.”

Deputies seized approximately 300 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, packaging, scales, and other items indicative of sales.  Three male suspects were arrested and later booked into jail at the Southwest Detention Center.

“While searching the property, deputies located two additional areas where marijuana was being cultivated.” Fraker said. ” Each area had numerous plants in different stages of growth and the subjects were attempting to conceal the plants using makeshift plastic walls.”

Deputies also located 18 roosters used for illegal cockfighting.  “Riverside County Animal Control Officers responded and took control of the roosters.” Fraker said.

The suspects were identified as:

Juan Serrano Hernandez, 50 years old, Daniel Parada Villasenor, 26 years old, both of Perris, CA; and Jose Manuel Rosales, 19 years old of Corona.

The investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Deputy Chavez or Deputy Hill at the Lake Elsinore Station at 951-245-3300.
