On Friday April 11th, 2014 the Murrieta Police Department reached out to the public for assistance with a child annoyance case.
At 4:20PM on that same day (4/11/14), a police detective observed the suspect in this case, later identified as Alexis Edmundo Garcia (age 31), speaking with a minor female victim near the Murrieta Boys and Girls Club. The suspect was stopped and ultimately arrested for the charges listed below.
The case involves Mr. Garcia loitering around several school campuses in Murrieta over the last 2 months. Mr. Garcia drives up to minor female victims between ages 11 and 17 years old and engages them in conversation. The conversation centers around the victim’s socks. The investigation has led detectives to believe the suspect has a fixation with the socks being worn by the minor female victims. This obsession is sexual in nature.
Although the suspect has been arrested and positively identified in a number of cases, it is likely there are additional victims in the community and the police department is asking parents to discuss the child annoyance incidents with their daughters to determine if there are additional victims in this case.
The police department currently has confirmed victims that were contacted in or around the following schools: Mesa H.S., Shivela M.S., Rail Ranch Elementary, and Alta Murrieta Elementary. The police department and the school district are working together to get this information out to all parents.
Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Sergeant Phil Gomez at 951.461.6356 or the police non-emergency number at 951.696.3615. The police press release from Friday 4/11/14 details the events leading up to the arrest. Mr. Garcia’s booking photo is attached to this release.
This case is ongoing and additional details about case cannot be released at this time.
