On Saturday, March 22, 2014, a road rage event led to multiple stabbings off I-15 and 79 South/Temecula Parkway Exit, north of the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.

“At approximately 6 P.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Northbound Temecula Parkway off ramp on the I-15 Freeway in Temecula reference a reported road rage incident.” stated Sergeant Kevin McDonald of the Riverside County Sheriff’s media information bureau. “These subjects fought and one subject received multiple stab wounds. The victim rode off on his motorcycle and exited the freeway at Temecula Parkway where he collapsed at the side of the road.”

Though social media hubs such as Facebook and Twitter rallied around questions of rival gang members locked in a bitter standoff, the Riverside County Sheriff’s made no mention of gang activity in the report. Images of the actual fight, and aftermath, are being withheld from this report, due to graphic nature.

Traffic came to a stand still leading into Temecula during the follow up investigation. Of the motorcyclists involved, McDonald continued,  “(The Southwest Station’s investigators) revealed an undisclosed number of motorcyclists riding northbound on the I-15 Freeway north of the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint engaged in a road rage incident and pulled over to the side of the road.”

Medical personnel responded to assist the stabbing victim, and he was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.

According to the report filed by Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, “A second stabbing victim drove himself to a local hospital where he was treated and released for several superficial stab wounds.”

This investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Carlos Topete at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Southwest Station at 951-696-3000.
