Riverside County Sheriffs report that Rainbow, CA residents–Christian Rivera and Tanner Cole–were both arrested following K-9 pursuit on March 18, 2014.
“At around 9:20 a.m. on the morning of March 18, 2014, a Temecula Police officer contacted two male adults at the Park ‘N Ride lot located at the intersection of Temecula Parkway and Old Town Front Street. Both individuals had just driven into the parking lot in a pick-up truck that had been reported stolen from the Fallbrook area of San Diego County. The driver of the stolen truck; eighteen-year-old Tanner Cole immediately fled from the officer, but the passenger; eighteen-year-old Christian Rivera was quickly detained.” Stated Sgt. Curt Harris of the Temecula Valley Police Department.
Temecula Police officers, Riverside County deputy sheriffs, and Sheriff’s Aviation responded to a nearby river bottom where Cole fled. “A Murrieta Police Department bloodhound officer quickly responded and deployed into the river bottom with a Temecula Police K-9 officer.” Harris said.
According to Harris, “Approximately one hour after Cole had fled from the stolen car, the bloodhound located him hiding in a thicket of deadwood and brush in the river bottom. Cole initially resisted the officers, which forced them to deploy the K-9.” Afterwards, he was taken into custody without further incident, according to the report.
“Both suspects were identified as residents of Rainbow, CA and placed under arrest for possessing a stolen vehicle and other criminal violations. Both suspects were booked at the Southwest Detention Center.” Harris said.
