Read Update Here: Rancho Water District repairs Margarita, Broken 16″ Pipe in Temeucla
Steer clear, Temecula. A water main break on Southbound Margarita Road slowed traffic to a crawl Wednesday evening. “Rancho Water employees are attempting to turn off the water,” Stated Deputy Albert Munoz of Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. “Once the water main is turned off, the Northbound Margarita lanes will be reopened. Southbound Margarita will remain closed from Overland to Solana as officials inspect for sink holes.”
At 6 p.m., the first call of a water main break alerted officials to this traffic hazard. “Several citizens reported seeing water in excess of 1 foot deep,” stated Munoz.
Police diverted traffic off Ynez to Solana, slowing progress through the mall area of Temecula a dead crawl. Rancho Water is present, currently attempting to shut off water at that location, and City of Temecula Public Works is currently on the scene, managing traffic.
This is a breaking story, and more information will be added as it arises.

Was wondering when something was going to get posted about this. The mess was terrible, and living in Solana Ridge Apartments was a heart ache. They wouldn’t let us down Margarita to get home at first. Finally got in after 7:30 p.m. Our water was turned off in the apartments also. This morning there is still construction going on and detours everywhere. Anyone know what caused it?
