The recent Colby Fire in Glendora was updated by the Inciweb Incident information system at 9:15 a.m., January 17, 2014.
Though firefighters managed to reach 35% containment overnight, the Colby brush fire has destroyed 5 homes in the Glendora, California area.
At this time, 3,600 people remain evacuated in the area of Azusa and closures and evacuations remain in effect for the neighborhoods of Yucca Ridge to Highway 39, according to a press conference with LA County Fire Department. Approximately 1,600 allowed to return to their homes in Glendora.
33 hand crews, 140 engines, 9 helicopters, 1 bull dozer, and 4 fixed-wing planes are currently battling the blaze. The weather remains a factor, with a red flag warning remaining in effect from high winds, low humidity, and extremely dry conditions in brush not burned in over 40 years.
