Owners Billy and Erin Furlong have lived in Temecula over 14 years, and in that time, have made both a home, and a business doing what they love. Serving others through beautifying yards in the traditional ‘Aloha’ spirit. We took some time to learn more about what makes this family run operation work in and around Temecula, California.
Q. What brought you and your family to Temecula?
A. We moved to the area 14 years ago to live closer to family.
Q. Family is a wonderful draw. Nice when everyone can get together on special occasions. When did you know you wanted to become a landscape designer?:
A. When I was in college, I started a gardening service and quickly realized that I had a passion and love for landscaping. I enjoy the creative side of landscaping and being outside.
Q. And this certainly is the climate for it! Your yards tend to be tropical in nature, as is your name! how did ‘Aloha’ come about?
A. We try to remain diversified with our landscape styles, and have a diversified landscaping portfolio.
We enjoy and install multiple types and styles of landscape; English Garden, Tropical, Formal, to Drought Tolerant/desert, which is becoming more prevalent in this area.
Q. Where did the name ‘Aloha’ come from? It seems you build much more than just tropical paradises…
A. The name Aloha Landscape branches from our friends at Aloha Pools. We have worked together for years. The Name Aloha describes the nature of who we are as people; friendly, laid back, enjoy life and people, and live with integrity.
Q. Water wise gardening is a trick out in Southern California. So, when a homeowner calls you for a free estimate, what can they expect when they start working with Aloha?:
A. Our homeowners can expect a personal touch on their project. We place a high value on each project, and work hard to listen to the client’s needs, and develop lasting relationships with our clients.
Q. That certainly can help in the long run. How do you help homeowners to figure out how to translate their ideas into reality?
A. I spend time walking the yard with every homeowner we work with. We discuss how they entertain, and every aspect of how they view and use their outdoor space. I present several design options based on functionality and aesthetics. Then I provide conceptual sketches capturing the design ideas, and they can be tailored further from there if necessary.
Q. What are some of your ideal working relationships?
A. Projects that stand out as some of our favorites are the ones in which we develop friendships. When we hear of the joy that the completed yard brings to our clients, and their friends and families, it makes our job very rewarding.
Q. Tell us a fun fact that clients may be interested to learn about you!
A. My wife and I enjoy golfing together and camping with our family. We enjoy traveling; especially on Christian missions trips around the world.
I have played soccer my whole life and am working toward launching a local, non-profit soccer club to reach children who cannot afford the expenses involved with playing soccer at a club level.
Q. It’s wonderful when business owners give back to the community. You’ll have to tell us more about the soccer club when it approaches! Finally, what is your favorite part about living and working in Temecula Valley?
A. Thanks, we’d be glad to share more about our soccer club. As for Temecula, it’s a great place to raise a family. The school district is great. Erin and I enjoy the wine country, and being centrally located between the beaches and the mountains.
We feel safe working and living here in the Temecula Valley and we have wonderful friends and family close by.
